Rock Around the Clock - RAC

Jan 26- Feb 1- 'Ow' and 'Wow'

Rock Around the Clock currently is a special move for me. I don't know why, but in it's classic form, i.e., with both feet, it gives me pain these days. It is not the sort of slight slight "ouch" feeling which my body uses to tell me 'hey, good you visit here again. It's high time we can move around here!", which is highly compatible with Joy of Movement. It is the sort of pain which my body uses to tell me: "Stop! This is harmful for me."

By contrast, doing RAC with one foot at a time, and no or very little body weight on that RACing foot, feels fantastic! Wow! I sense increased mobility and stability in my ankle, and feel refreshed and alive. In particular, my tendons, ligaments and 'small muscles' around my ankle seem to benefit from this version. So what I'll do is continue the one-leg-version, with increasing weight shift to the active leg and 'test' the two-leg-version once in a while and see how it changes.

It is a wonderful practice you can include in your day, even while sitting at your desk. The natural version of RAC to me is before I jog - I naturally had the urge to do single-leg-RAC before jogging long before I met Nia.

Since it stopped raining, this is just what I do next: single-leg-RAC and jogging.
