Nia with Alexandra - practical & technical tips
Nia is best danced barefoot to stimulate the body and make movements more precise; if you prefer, wear non‑slip socks or shoes with soft, thin soles — regular socks are too slippery.
Wear comfortable movement clothes and consider something to put on or take off at the beginning and end of class; choose something that inspires you in the moment.
For the floorplay at the end of class, bring a blanket or mat and, if needed, knee pads for Nia 5 Stages.
A 2 × 2 m clear space facing your monitor is sufficient; more room is better.
With wireless headphones you can also dance outdoors.
For better audio quality, connect an external speaker, preferably via an aux (3.5 mm) cable; Bluetooth can sometimes cause small delays and may affect Wi‑Fi.
Test whether your internet connection is more stable via a LAN cable than over Wi‑Fi.
During class, please mute your microphone; because of the required wiring I may not be able to hear you at the start or during the lesson, so use the chat or visual hand signals if you want to communicate.
If the stream stutters, turn off your video; the recording contains only my video.
I stop the recording after class and then we can chat.
Zoom is constantly updated; please make sure you have the latest version before each class (updates take less than a minute), since an outdated version can affect music volume (usually making it too quiet).
